Q: Can I install an outside boiler with a forced air system?
A: Yes. Install a water to air heat exchanger and heat can be transferred from one system to another.
Q: What size boiler do I need to heat my home?
A: Sizing worksheet is included in Central Boiler literature. Most common sizes sold are 250,000 and 500,000 BTU. Going larger then you need will result in longer burn times and less feeding of boiler.
Q: Does the boiler come with pumps?
A: No. There is no "one pump fits all," every home and installation is different requiring proper pump application.
Q: How much wood will I use?
A: Many factors are involved such as wood type (hard wood or soft.) It also depends on heat loss in the home and boiler size. Proper piping and installation will greatly increase burn times.
1) In my home, the boiler is fired up once a day in cold weather and once every 2 or 3 days in milder weather.
Q: Can household trash or garbage be burned?
A: No. Burning trash will result in excessive air pollution and more government intervention. It’s up to all of us to burn sensible and police our own actions.
Q: Can I burn pine?
A: Yes. It should be dried like any firewood. You will not get a long burn time from pine compared to any hardwood.
Q: Can your company install the boiler for me?
A: Yes. We can do the complete installation, we can do half and you can do half, or we can guide you through the installation yourself answering any questions you may have.
Q: What does it cost?
A: Nothing has changed in the last 100 years. You can still buy oats either before they enter the horse or after!
Q: Can coal be burned in a Central Boiler?
A: No. Burning coal is dirty and increases air pollution. Coal requires secondary combustion.
1) For safe operation - secondary air above the fire can not be controlled or monitored. Secondary air will greatly decrease burn times and increase temperature control issues.
2) Centrail Boilers are clean burning and the only ourside boiler presently approved in the state of Vermont.
